Haim win BBC Sound Award 2013
Californian sisters Este, Danielle and Alana Haim have topped this years BBC Sound 2013 shortlist.
The trio who form the band Haim, came first in the all-female shortlist which was announced yesterday (4th Jan). Haim surfaced in 2012 after signing a record deal with Polydor. Their single 'Don't Save Me' was released on the 8th November and reached number nine on the UK top 40 charts. The band introduces a range of 70s rock, 80s synthetic pop and rhythms of contemporary R&B and also boast a unique writing style. Tom Howard of NME said; "The best thing about Haim is that the songs they write are 100 per cent bullsh*t-free" 213 UK-based critics, bloggers and influencial broadcasters were asked to name three artists from any country who they thought would make it big in 2013. Haim were the band most popular, with AlunaGeorge coming second and Angel Haze third in the poll. Previous winners of the BBC Sound Award include the hugely successful Adele, Jessie J, Ellie Goulding and Mika. |
