Tesco have withdrawn a product labelled as an 'Inflatable G*y Best Friend' from their website. This follows yesterdays criticism that the supermarket giant had to withdraw Halloween costumes that stigmatised mental health patients. The doll, which is advertised with censorship on the product title, was described as being suitable for ages 3-4 and has since been removed from the site. The product description describes; “Although not much can be said for his own attire, your Inflatable g*y Best Friend is ready to give you fashion advice, tell you if your bum looks big and b**ch about everyone who doesn’t wear Jimmy Choo’s.” Tesco took to Twitter to apologise to the complaining customers and blamed the product on a third party, but have said they will investigate why the product has been advertised for the last two months. Tesco made press yesterday, when it was revealed the site was selling products with negative stereotyping towards mental health patients. |
